Three of gaming's biggest genres, compared. Find the playstyle that matches how you want to play.
Three genres dominate modern PC gaming, and they ask for very different things from you. Here's how MMORPGs, MOBAs and Battle Royales actually differ — and how to pick the one that fits your life.
MMORPG — the long game
Massive worlds, character progression measured in months, and social systems built around guilds and raids. MMORPGs reward investment: the more time you put in, the deeper they get. Perfect if you love a world you can call home.
MOBA — pure strategy
Two teams, one map, 30–40 minutes of intense decision-making. MOBAs like League of Legends and Dota 2 have a famously steep learning curve, but the strategic ceiling is almost limitless. Ideal for competitive minds.
Battle Royale — fast and thrilling
Drop in, scavenge, and outlast everyone else. Matches are short, tension is high, and every round is different. Battle Royales are the easiest to pick up for a quick session and the hardest to put down.
Which should you pick?
- ▸Have lots of time and love community? Go MMORPG.
- ▸Crave deep strategy and competition? Go MOBA.
- ▸Want quick, high-stakes sessions? Go Battle Royale.
